Press and Popular Work

Engaging people outside of academia is a passion of mine. I write pieces intended for popular audiences, including a book on parenting. Occasionally, I am lucky enough to receive the attention of the popular press.

Research

My research focuses on understanding social behavior using mathematics, especially using game theory and computer simulation models.  Use these techniques to understand all types of social behavior from bacteria to communities of scientists.

Teaching

Being housed in a philosophy department, I teach classes relating to my research and also some more general  philosophy classes.  Beyond college classes, I have also taught short classes to a variety of audiences.  I think it's important to share how we teach, and I put a lot of my materials online.
